I was at the Home Entertainment Show last weekend in New York.
I went into the Meridian room and ask a gentleman from Meridian if they were going to come out with a box to turn the 598DP's 15 pin digital output into an analog output like the one on the AP version so I could add the 598 to my analog system. He said there was one already available. He looked for it on thier web site but couldn't find it. Has anyone heard of or have seen this item? I lost his card so I cannot remember his name. He did take my email info so I am hoping to hear from him.

He may have been thinking of the analog version of the 598 and not an external box.

The convertor might have been a VGA --> 3x RCA output for the 598 --> 861 that is required for MHR multi-channel.

The 15-pin connector is a garden variety VGA cable and this is a breakout cable which is used for monitors or projectors.

You would need a cable like John describes above and a 6 Channel DAC (or three 2 channel DACs).

Also keep in mind there is no bass management in the 598. Your system would have to take of that.

The 15 pin digital output on the 598DP contains exactly the same signals as on the 3 x SPDIF outputs. No need to bother with any VGA converters. The VGA output is (probably a space saving connection for the 568.2mm) only needed when connecting to a 568.2mm The G68/861 uses the phono to phono connectors - a simple component video cable will do.

However, as George says, you are somehow going to need to convert this to analogue. A simple cable will not do it.

I believe the gentleman from Meridian was 'confused'.

I told him I wanted the analog output for my 2 channel system & that I had the 598DP. He said thats what it was for.

Analog output for two channel system...you want a 566.24 DAC. Check the restaurant and audiogon. Then just use the single SPDIF coax output from your 598 into the 566.24. No need to use the VGA output. There is a 563 on audiogon. They sound very good too.
