Doesn't seem to be close to double price, though there is of course no exact pricing given on the Prelude yet. But I haven't seen the X-Meridian for a bargain price anywhere...

Do any of you know if the "add-on" cards do something specific with the signal?

I'm thinking about drilling 4 holes in an ordinary back plate and put RCA sockets there. Then connect the RCA with cables directly onto the SPDIF pins.

Edit: I simply want this to feed the g68 with 3xSPDIF containg the decoded PCM/Dolby True HD from HD-DVD and Blu-ray.
Edit2: Ahh .. now I see the image from Tommy, pretty much answers my question that you can connect directly onto the pins.

I thinks you have to short some of the pins to make it think that it has an "add-on" card, then the drivers should have more options listed.

I don't have them in memory, but if you search you will probably find it (I saw it mentioned several times).

Yes, it seems to be better staying pre-X-Fi if you want digital SPDIF out...
