First, thank you to everyone on this site for all the info. I am sure my questions has been previously discussed but I would appreciate any info on what if any improvement G02 has over the 5 series analogue pre-amp.

I previously had a 541 (perhaps comparable to a 501) hooked via RCA to my G57.
I recently upgraded to a G02 using Balanced (XLR) interconnects between the G02 and the G57.
Compared to the previous setup, I have sensed the following:
1. Soudstage has gotten bigger, deeper and wider.
2. Better clarity and better layering and separation of the instruments.
3. Causes the speakers to disappear.

In layman terms it gives 3D sensation that almost feels like there are more than just two speakers in the room, without processing.

It is quiet something.

I am very happy with the change.
However, I have never compared the G02 to a 502. Some forum members claim that the G02 is just a 502 in a fancy box which may as well be the case.

I guess the only way to tell is to test for yourself in your listening room.

What other gear do you have?

I've not compared the 502 and G02, but I have compared the 556 and G56. The G model has a more lively sound, and a more extended bass.

M's literature doesn't try very hard to explain the benefits of the G series amps over their 500 series counterparts. I have a 502, but haven't been tempted to replace it with a G02.

I actually asked Andy from Meridian's Service if there is any difference between the 557 and G57 and he said that ther is quite a bit of A difference and they are different products altogether.
I never compared the G57 with 557 to form an opinion . Again, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, especially in your own setup.

Thank you for the info. I am runing a g91 right now. But recent experiements playing my tunrtable (space deck) with all analogue pre-amps have me thinking. I have ben working my way up the Audio Researh chain of new pre-amps. To be honest, except for jazz, playing the tunrntable thru the g91 was close enough to not warrant the up-grade, until I tried the LS26. Life changing event. Now I am out looking at analogue pre-amps.
