after skimming through the posts- I still did not see anything "concrete" mentioned about the HDMI card for the 861(Did I miss it??) Opinions about waiting or just going for the 45 card to get the most from my Toshiba HD and Panny BR- thanks!!!

If you want to connect both your HD/BD players maybe an IA40 card would be best as I think it can be configured for 2 x 5.1 sources ?

Then when M's HD player comes out we can get 861 V5 upgrade and connect that via HDMI wink

yes, the IA40 can be configured as 2x6. though the sample rate of the IA45 is higher. i imagine you could put two IA45s in....

Mark H has reported that the audio sounds better to him via the regular SPDIF connector running regular DD/DTS than the new high res audio over analog. I can tell you that it sounds just as good as regular DVD. IMHO, you're better off waiting.

Jerry

Yup, as Jerry says, I prefer the lossy digital stream over the TRuHD via IA40 route. I suspect the analog output stages of the Toshiba HD-XA1 are not that great...

Mark,

Not sure whether I read it on avs or htf but I think if you disable something called 'Dialog Enhancement' on your player's setup menu you should get better Dolby True sound out of it.
