I don't experience the WiFi issues you mentioned; WiFi is very fast for me (using Airport Extreme 802.11n/g).
ken Try to conatin yourself. I understand and have an iPhone too. Wifi performance of iPhone belongs on appropriate sites (and there is tons of them). Try to keep it in context with Meridian Audio. Or at least Audio. Docking, iTunes, Formats, Cables, AirPort express etc, Connecting, Using as Remote, etc. It will make one slick interface to the SlimServer right out of the box. I try to keep an open mind but I'm putting the quality of this site first (i.e. staying focused). If you need a tip on forums here is one: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/apple-iPhone-i-phone/ There may be better ones.

ok sorry- One of the first thoughts both the wife and I had was, that it would make a perfect remote; I hope this becomes a reality. Due to Apple not allowing third party apps except via Safari, the first implementation will likely be browser based. Guess it would have to tag into the WiFi for connecting to RF/IR blaster, etc.
I don't think at present there is a way to stream to an AE (that I can find, anyway). Although many posters conjecture the ability is there and may be turned on with Leopard timing.

George, Don't get too upset, I had kind of gone OT too. Id love to see Meridian do Blue Tooth with audio streaming for their digital speakers.

I'm not that upset at all. I understand completely the excitement. Just trying to keep us steered forward.

If anybody figures a way to stream to AE - post it up! I'm already wishing for more flash space. I really like the iPod browsing features...
Man I would love to do M- config and remote control on this puppy...
ken --that's what I like George - keep us movin' in the right direction!! somebody's got to do it - or we'd be all over the map.. I know I would anyway--

Thanks Ken for the try! See also your call for someone else input and report on this AE issue and join hope for it. It'd be so nice to stream lossless wireless to M rig. Though for me a wifi iPod 'd be as much welcome.

If I understand what you are looking for. These guys might be worth keeping an eye on. They are already streaming music outside of the Mac to AE. http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/ I should also note that I don't use this software or an AE. Keith

Hello all,
I am currently looking to upgrade my phone in the next couple of months to the O2 XDA Trion or Orbit & have been drawn into this thread with talk of being able to control M equipment via pda phones.
Could someone tell me what is needed to enable this functionality and does the software effectively turn your pda into a Pronto?
Is there anyone out there who does this with either of the 2 phones mentioned that could comment on usability / compatibility issues with M products (if any).
Apologies for going further OT.
Cheers
Simon

Was just at an Apple store, got to play with the iPhone as was impressed as expected w/the interface. I owned the first Mac -- 128K -- many years back and have been impressed w/a lot of what Apple has done since.
Point of this post is that it occurred to me that an Apple store would be a great outlet for the F80. Why not sell something way upscale audio-wise, and it would be great exposure for Meridian. Within realm of M, the F80 is designed to be a mass-market product.

As far as Meridian and the iPhone are concerned; at the recent Apple WWDC, Steve Jobs stated that third-party applications were easily achieved on the iPhone by utilising Web 2.0 programming.
It would simply be an issue of sufficient motivation on Meridian's part to develop a Web 2.0-based M.Config program for the iPhone - but given Bob Stuart's apparent cynicism towards the existing iPod phenomenon I doubt Meridian will be quick off the mark.
---------- If you haven't seen it yet; there's a highly amusing news story on American television on the woman who successfully bought her place at the front of the queue for the iPhone for $800. Her intention was to use her $16,000 to buy all that day's stock of the iPhone at that particular store to sell-on at eBay. However, she hadn't factored-in the store's policy of restricting sales to one iPhone per person. The guy that accepted her $800 bribe pigged-out on all the available iPhone accessories.
Karma.

good story spinal... they did sell on E-Bay for around $750 with the occasional $1500 sale; The Apple stores were limiting 2 per person and you could not buy for a person not present (like a spouse or something) beyond the 2 per person limit. The AT&T stores were one per person... I suspect you're right about M- plans, but sure would be a good opportunity to update the Config program to browser based - Needs to happen eventually anyway. Someone else will no doubt complete a nice iPhone - web based universal remote app for control... Some fresh rumor/reports about iPhone in UK, Germany, France... http://www.appleinsider.com/article...ne_rumors_germany_france_and_the_uk.html -----Note - Appleinsider is a mix site of news releases, reporter based stories and some rumor mill stuff----- ken
