I Tried Georges reload with the same bad result.

The rear of my unit is a little tough to see ... but my cards dont seem to be in the same location as where mconfig reports them to be. Example IA00 looks like its in slot 4 when it looks like a blank is in slot 1 and the VS00 is completely on the wrong side.

Is their any magic in the card placement? Here's a stupid question ... but does anyone have a hardware manual on the 861 or at least how card slots are counted? No wise guy response necessary (like count them 1,2,3,... smile). It seems like the cards consume from 1 to 3 slots.

Can this cause problems???

Before I rip the unit out of the rack and start moving cards any comments from the experts? My card list is:
IA00
VS00
OA13 x 2
IE 42
VS20
CO00
I take it their is not "hardware" manual on V4.2 Card placements. Is each blank panel in back 2 slots?

I think there are Full, Half and OneandHalf size cards. I think each Full blank plate corresponds to a slot in the motherboard. Not all cards plug into motherboard (and these are often not full size cards either).

I don't know of a manual that's publicly available. But mconfig does help.

Let us know how it goes.

I giving up. I put the cards in as mconfig recommends. No luck same thing. Looks like the unit needs to go back. What a pain.

How many bus terminators are supposed to be in the chassis?

Call Meridian, maybe they can walk you through a fix. Bad week to call though.

I went as far as putting a 60hz test tone from the 598 into the 861 and put a DVM on the speaker terminals.

With the old firware the voltage was pretty solid - not as solid as my BAT Preamp and CD player from a previous life. The 861 drifted about .2v.

New firmware the volt meter couldnt even keep up with the changes swinging what look like about 4 volts.

I'm about ready to go back to the Anthem D1 (whose support was awesom BTW). I've spent more time with this problem than I have with my wife over the last couple of weeks. I'll give Meridian a try first.

Thanks to you all for the help.

What sound field were you in when you measured the outputs?

If it was anything other than direct you would see swings.

Was this unit upgraded recently? From you direct to Meridian or through a dealer?
