Plasmatico, "The SB3 is a good cheap alternative, I don't know much about the ReQuest, the other alternative is a Mac Mini w/ an external HDD, but it only has a headphones output and I am not sure how good that would sound into a 861." The Mac Mini has a digital audio output through a miniplug. You can purchase a cable from Monoprice that will convert the digital out on the miniplug to a toslink digital signal. I have not evaluated the quality of this, but I am planning on purchasing a Mac Mini and have already purchased the digital cable. To add my tuppence worth, I use a MacBookPro with an external hard drive sending I-tunes wirelessly via an airport express to a receiver. The airport express is connected to the receiver via a tos cable with a mini tos adapter at the express end. To be honest I am pretty happy with the result and the convenience factor is high. Recently I dabbled with vyinl which sounded good however it was all too much hassle and took too much time. At the end of the day, like, I suspect many of us, I don't have the time to sit down and listen critically. However sometimes I wonder if I get more caught up with the technology instead of just enjoying the result.

Music network is way to go. Just purchased a Sonos ZP80 and Controller. Works like a breeze!
Room for improvement, though. There is no way to know which file is actually playing - the Sonos system seem to choose randomly between duplicates in different qualities/bitrates. And that's a nuicance if you - like me - has no less then five huge hard drives with music libraries on them. Everything from lousy 128 kbs to FLAC and Apple Lossless files which sound identical to CD.
Another drawback is the inability to play 24/96. There are a lot of files out there in better then CD quality, and Sonos don't seem to care (but M. do).
Also, the controller freezes up more frequently than I like.
The Sonos folks seem to take music seriously, and I expect upgrades pretty soon. There are many other - and cheaper - options out there (Airport Express, SB, Roku etc), but Sonos wins on sheer convenience, expandability (and nice look, too). Kudos!
