Sorry for this question---I should know the answer.

I have 2 DSP6000s (96/24) that I would like to replace 2 Krell Res 2's as my main R/Ls. I would move the Krells to the rears (I have the Res 2 Center also).

My Denon 5803 has pre-outs I currently use 2 of them for the fronts as I have them attached to Lexicon monos.

I can't sell the DSP6000s, so I would like to try to use them in my main system due to their outstanding sound. I had a G91a but have sold it. I really like my Denon (mainly because it is already hooked up and I know how to use all of its functions).

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Dave

Yes, the digital audio input connectors D1 and D2 are discussed on page 37 with the setup instructions on the bottom of page 41 here .

The Denon 5803 doesn't seem to support Digital Coax audio out, so you may need to get an Optical to Digital Coax converter.

I think to get the most out of them, and easy use, you need a 562. You can pick one of these up fairly cheap.

George,

How would the 562 interact with the Denon 5803? Could it be connected to it somehow with the DSP6000s?

I don't know of many receivers that have digital outputs. So you need to run through an Analog to Digital converter. Thinking about this further any ADC would probably do. The higher the sampling frequency the better. If your receiver did have digital outputs ypu'd still have the volume control issues below because the outputs are fixed.

The 562 is an ADC. The higher version ones have higher sampling rate I believe. But you can pick 562's cheap these days.

The pre-outs would go to the ADC.

And the digital out would go to D1 of the Left DSP6000. And The Digital out of Left speaker would go to D1 of the right speaker as normal.

You need to hook Comms between them and set the left speaker as a controller.

The problem with these sort of setups is calibration. And volume control in general use.

Since you'll have to use two controls to control volume Denon for Center, Rears. And Meridian to control fronts and you need to keep them in sync (balanced as you ajdust up and down).

If this was a 2 channel setup then it would not be so bad. But if it was 2 channel you might as well connect your CD player direct to the speaker and avoid the DAC/ADC concversion.
