My 598 did not recognize the last(?!) last record. The displayed showed no disc and refused to open. I turned it off and on again and the 598 made a sound like Swoosh. The fuse was blown, and after replacing with a new one the 598 is completly dead.
Anyone else have had that problem?

I think your power supply has gone... Either that or the comms board.

Yes, guess so. I actually connected a Teac DSD burner instead and that was not an all in all bad choice. A little bit more SSS but maybe a it will be better when burned in.

Happened to me twice. First time was a silent death where I got intermittent power offs where the 598 just shut itself off for no reason. Then when it finally gave up, the standby dot was gone. Fuse was OK but everything was dead. Sent it to Meridian for repairs. Power supply was replaced.

Second time was during an attempted firmware upgrade. Turned off the 598 and powered it back on per the instructions of the firmware loader. Upon power up nothing. I check the fuse and it's blown. Replace it with the spare and attempt to power up. I get a loud pop and I smell burnt electronics. Sent back to Meridian and again another power supply was replaced.

Both of these incidents happened almost a year apart from each other. So far the second replaced power supply seems to be holding up. Only time will tell I guess.
