Sent my 861 back for a failed pwr supply. Meridian turned the unit around in 2 days !!! No charge for repair. The unit is 6 yrs old and had a pwr repair 2 yrs ago. This is why people buy Meridian. Great customer service.

My experience is similiar to Furrner's, my 558 power amplifier has been in for repairs since mid-July. Worse, in my opinion, my last couple of emails about it to Meridian UK have had no reply. 558 history: Bought new when it was a new model, worked with no problems until this Summer. Then it started shutting down to standby after about 2 minutes, needing a hard off/on to get working, only to repeat. I called the dealer/importer, and wrote an email to Meridian. M suggested, while I waited to hear back from the importer, to try it with all incoming cables disconnected, which I did. This resluted in a loud POOOF! and a bit of burnt smell, which I later learned was three of the modules frying. I informed M, they told me to deliver it to the importer. Since then I've had no replies to any of my emails (sent both to the guy who initially replied, and to both service and support adresses). My dealer informed me they had charged him for new modules, but I think he sorted that out with them (at least my impression is that it's getting done under warranty, as he originally expected it to be).

The fact that I was quite willing to pay them to fix it, not asking for a warranty repair is what really pisses me off. It has apparently been returned to the UK as the US importers couldn't fix it. About a month ago Jason promised to call me back and give me an update as to what was happening and when I could expect it back. I have heard nothing.

For what it's worth, my typical dealer experiences have been a 3-4 day turn around time with warranty/non-warranty repairs when sending my clients units for repair in the US.
While I do have a great relationship with Jason, et al, I don't know if my experiences are typical for all dealers.

Have you tried calling M USA since your last call? If your amp is in M UK I would call them up, I think email in this case would be a waste of time, try get somebody on the phone with a defitive update/resolution.
Just my 2 cents...

I recently sent my 598 (Out of warranty) to Meridian UK as the drawer was not always opening. They replaced the whole drive free of charge (postage excepted) and also sent me a new chip for my 518.
Turn around 4 days.
I would look elsewhere for the cause of the delays mentioned above and try to deal direct where possible.

I haven't had a chance to follow up with Jason. Unfortunately my work schedule makes it difficult to call during their business hours, calling the UK may be the best option to see what is going on and when I can expect it back.
There is a G57 currently on eBay that I am tempted to buy if it is the right price. How does the sound compare to the 557? From what I have read it is pretty much just a re-boxed 557. How would it sound if I bi-Amp the A500s upon the 557s return?
