If you want to EQ them separately, then you will need two SMS-1 subs. If you don't mind having both running at the same time or want to EQ them together, then all you need is one SMS-1. The SMS-1 has three sub outs.
The way my system is running (and I'm still experimenting with things) is to have my DD18 run all the time. This is set as my left and right music sub. When I'm watching movies I have my HGS15 with SMS-1 run as my LFE set as the mono sub on my 568.2MM. Doing it this way allows me to have the accurate bass I want for multichannel and Trifield. But when I go to movie playback, I get the extra slam I want when watching action movies with the HGS15 thrown into the mix. I first EQ the DD18 on its own. Then I throw in the HGS15 and EQ the SMS-1 with the DD18 running at the same time. I've added a bit of an artificial tilt/boost at the lower end to suit my tastes for LFE effects.
