Can anyone confirm this ?
I'm thinking of a combination of the soon available new toshiba HD DVD player HD-E1 with my G98.

HD Component can be used as a bypass function to the component output, but if I remember correctly it won't go in the HDMI output, only if you are entering the component SD, which defeat the purpose of what you want to do I guess.
Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

FB Acording to the manual you are correct! But Peters original idea serves no purpose as HD content is only aviable trough the Toshibas HDMI output anyway ? analog outputs is scaled down. An HDMI switch is needed if the screen does not have two HDMI inputs. and why not the HD-XE1 that has 1080 p and HDMi1.3

1080i for HD-DVDs is possible via component. 1080i for SD DVDs is not.

Ooops my wrong ?
For a while, there was a lot of talk of restricting the analog outputs on HD-DVD players, for copy protection and only have HD trough HDMI.
Good thing if thats not so anymore.
