Any good salesman can give you the same line and still lie about it. It's a common phrase in business world.

don't think Meridian will go all out for the HDMI as yet which make sense. HDMI is not a perfect interface. OK both sound and audio with one single wire is a very good idea but HDMI make for a nightmare of a connection. The biggest issue with HDMI is the HDCP handshake which is a hit and miss type of connection with most of the displays out there. Second issue is how easily this type of connection could come loose in most applications in the real world. As you know Meridian and Faroudja's D-ILA PJ did not go with HDMI connection. DVI is the perfect interface in my book.
All video is still 8 bit color (8 bits each for red, green, and blue, for a total of 24 bits). HDMI will handle 10 and 12 bit video signals, but we don't have any such signals from sources for it to handle at this point. Maybe a few years down the road.

Based on JK's publised M answers at CEDIA, seems pretty clear that we will not see anything anytime soon!

Although that is a bit disapointing, I must say -- having recently added the IA45 card to my 861 - the Toshiba HDDVD player with 2.0 firmware into the multi-channel analog IA45 card is superb!!!!

The HDMI handshake may be a big issue for the protocol, but the biggest issue with HDMI for M is jitter.

Where is everybody else's in the high-end? Nobody has an HDMI 1.3 product.

As JRS pointed out in the answer, 1.3 is not a silver bullet and in fact with discs authored with advanced audio (and they all have been) you don't need 1.3.

Nothing that buffering and a DSP on the digital receiver card can't cure. They've been there and done that before.

I have the toshiba HDDVD player. With firmware 2.0, it now has the ability to send the decoded dolby TrueHD to my 861. Sound quality is very good.

I do not yet have Bluray - frankly, the initial reports of picture quality on the Samsung gave me pause. Assuming the problems are in that player, I will take the plunge when the Sony player arrives.
