I strongly agree with all of Marc's comments re: the MCP1/MPA1 modular component system. This rather unlikely looking pick-and-play component system really sang. Unfortunately the switching system with its hinged plastic "front door" covers, and insufficient cooling heat sink and vent surface area made them less than totally reliable.

I owned one of these configured as an integrated amp for a few years when it was current and enjoyed it thoroughly. It really did run rings around the preceeding 101/105 combination musically.

Happy Trails!

Might have been the listening room where I demo'd them, but I found the Cremona Auditor to be excessively harsh / bright sounding, and paired it with a number of amps to be sure.

To me ears, the 'Grand Piano' actually sounded much better, despite being some 800 cheaper.

The only time the Cremona Auditor started to sound good was when we hooked up some Audio Research valve power, and this just about managed to tame them!

Cheers,

David

This just shows how subjective the whole Hi-Fi thing is.
I never heard the Cremona Auditor although I loved their sexy and elegant design a great deal. In fact I loved them much more than the Cremona Floorstanders.
I love my Grand Piano home both from looks and sound stand point and using different amplifiers and CD/DVD players I noticed how much more juice was in them (huge potential). I know the sky is the limit but I feel I pretty much realized most of the potential with the 596/541/G57.
In my humble opinion them and the Guarneri's are the most beautiful speakers SF ever came up with.
I said it before, sound is paramount but I cannot see myself putting an ugly (my opinion) Watt Puppies even if I had the money to buy them. I think that speakers, unlike the rest of the equipment are a design statement and they are “stuck” in your living room (unless you have a dedicated listening room) or a very understanding wife who do not cares for how her kingdom looks like, let alone the fact the you spend the family income on some undesired sound reproducing beasts...

My warm recommendation to all members:
Try SF with Meridian gear and you will not regreat. No other gear sounded even close in my setting.

Cheers,

Doron
