Can someone please explain the function of the (apparently adjustable) 'temp' (temperature??) reading (eg, "temp 24C") which can be viewed and adjusted via the setup menu? The booklet seems to offer no guidance on this.
If it is to do with temperature, what is the optimum setting? Does it matter in practice?

I don't know, but written about DSP6000 there is:
"The voice coil temperature is also calculated permitting precision thermal protection."

I've been meaning to phone the mothership about this for months. I noticed it in the 8k setup for the first time, and I assume it's the maximum permitted temperature before protection kicks in. I'd thought it may be for the amps, but your probably right Tommy...I'm sure I heard Bob Stuart mention voice coil temperature protection in one of those Cine-Now clips noted in another thread.
Cheers

George, you owned those DSP6000s for two years and never noticed the temp setting feature was there too? Tsk.

Tuscan - yes, that thought had occurred to me. Odd that M allow customers to play with this feature without explaining what it does. Perhaps I should restore default settings, but that would mean losing all my hard work in configuring inputs etc. They seem fine at the moment anyway
