I was here a couple of weeks ago asking for assistance installing a AO13 card in my 861. I tried all the suggestions you guys offered and think I did it right. The outcome was negative. My 861 would not take commands from either the MSR or front panel keys.It just locked up.I made sure the jumper #1 was assighned to AO13 and jumper #2 was assighned to AO12 card. I called tech at Meridian USA and he said he had never heard of anyone trying to config.a AO12 and AO13 and didn't know if it would work .I put the AO12card back in place and all seems well.Sure would like 192khz rez on fronts if it were possible.Should I wait to get another AO13card so I can remove the O12's altogether? Also should I verify that the 13 card is alright and if so how? I trust the source I got it from but you never know.My unit is a 2000 861 upgraded from 2.8 status to V4.2 in March 2006. with the AO12's modified with upgrade. Has anybody out there been down this road?

Did you try the AO13 by itself?

If that works, then yes, get another AO13.

Even though the A012's were upgraded they still might not mix with AO13's.

Will try AO3 by itself this weekend. Should I remove both AO12 cards to check 13 or can I just config without{delete AO12 from config} to minimize handling? Either way I'm prepared to do what you think best.Again thanks George..

I can't tell you what to do with any practice or authority with this problem, but if it were me I'd remove both first. I wouldn't worry about handling but use common sense. Get a base line that the AO13 works. Then try it with one AO12 for grins.

Did as above with same negative results. Appears I was sold a bad card . Hope the seller resolves this or I'm in a fix. Thanks again

I feel for you...few things in life would be more frustration that laying out that kind of money for a new toy only to find that it did/does not work as advertised....hopefully the seller will rectify the situation to your satisfaction such that this is something that becomes a distant memory...

Best of luck...

I once wanted to install 12 outputs, so i bought a AO12 to add to my OA02m cards. But that would not work i was told (Meridian UK). So i had to buy OA13 cards (i wanted balanced connections) I did ask if i could have 2 OA13 cards with one OA12m but Meridian UK told me not to do that.

If i remember correctly, the cards share their clocking, and the 1st card becomes 'master' When you try to mix up 192/24 and 96/24 cards, they cannot sync.

I concur with jaco. I was told similar by Ed.

I still have not installed my second OA13 (bit scared to, since everything currently works).

I beleive a post a while back did discuss that the OA02m/OA12m could not be mixed with OA03/OA13 cards. As jJaco said the cards share a clock signal and the 96 vs 192k cards won't play nice together.

I'm not sure what the exact diff between an OAx2 & OAx2m card is....a rom change or a resistor change. Not sure if it has been mentioned in the past.

I'm assumeing you have tried the following with the OA13 as the only analog output card in the 800

retype to a standard config. see if anything works.
Check the jumper settings on the OA13 and make sure they match the setting show in mconfig.
Put the OA13 in the same slot that the 1st OAx2 occupied as I beleive the 861 can contain some bus terminators that could be causing an issue if the OA13 was installed at a different location.
try using jumper setting #1 and one of the default types for analog.

I have been thinking of trying a pair of OA13s in my 861 if I decide to swith back to analog speakers. I'm actualy hoping that I can stick with DSPs and remove all o fthe analog cards from my 861.

Double check with M regarding the bus teminators. I beleive when I called one time I was told that some times one they can be in the unit but not in place.. ie. tie wrapped to the card cage but not in place. May be that the higher clocked card has a lower tolerance.
