Hello. The new SKY HD decoder for Italy has an optical SPDIF out which is set to output AC3 audio. When I use my G68J, input O3, it can't proprely decode the AC3 audio. The display shows - alternately: AC3 3/2.1 48k (for a second) and Data 48k (for the rest of the time). Unfortunately there is no audio output. It happens that I have a pair of Earphones with a Dolby Decoder which accepts SPDIF input and internally decodes it. There is no problem at all - it recognizes AC3 audio and decodes it. So I believe that there could be a problem in the way my Meridian is managing this audio flow. Can anybody help me? This is the first time that I have a problem with this wonderful piece and I presume that I am doing something wrong - may be there is somewhere some software setup which I am not properly using. Thank you all in advance who will respond Paolo

Hi,
In the Meridian configuration program there is a tick box , which says poor audio source for each of the inputs. Give it a try and tick it for the optical input. It might correct the problem.

Thank you Harry. Is there a chance to do this without using the MC program? I haven't my laptop at home now and must use front bottons...

I think you need the pc to set it.
Also try a different optical cable.

Paolo......
It may also be worth ensuring SKY are actually broadcasting in AC3, and thast the output is actually supported within the hardware.
I assume SKY HD will have AC3, but SKY have a habit of not fully supporting the features on the box!!
However this is all guesswork........but worth checking, just in case
Good luck
