My 596 is just over 5 years old and has been faultless until yesterday. It refuses to play any CD and says "no disk". Having tried a dozen or so CD's without success I played various DVD's, all of which are fine. In an attempt to sort the problem out I have turned power off and re-set to standard type. The 596 unit is running the latest M 1.89. I have done a search and seen a similar thread in a closed forum but there was no conclusion. Can any kind sould please tell me there is a solution other than returning to Meridian?

I had an issue similar to this. Meridian replaced the drive for me and no problems since.
Sorry its not the answer you wanted.

Yes, drive or laser failure is the most likely explanation (unfortunately).

Thx for the quick reply guys. Such a shame, so now I have to go back into a M dealers without upgrading something. It's going to be a tough mission.

Hi, I always contact Meridian Direct, Would you believe, no dealers in Essex.
Send stuff in and it happens. Try it, Chris
