After some physical moving around of my equipment I turned it all on again. My DSP5000C then shows 1L65, which according to the manual indicates it's into either Test or Calibrate Mode.

How it came to be like that I don't know, I haven't changed any of the cabling connected to the DSP5000C (but replaced the MHR cables between G68/G98, changed some component cabling...).

The manual says to press the Clear key while turning the DSP5000C on, it should then leave Test/Calibrate mode. The G68/G98 are in Stand-by mode, so they show "Controller"/"Not Con.". The 5000C shows nothing until I let go of the Clear key, then it again shows 1L65.

The D1500 and the DSP33's are turned off. Trying with them on makes no difference. Turning all equipment on and playing something works, though the 5000C can of course not be controlled so the volume stays at 65.

Any suggestions? I will of course check the cabling again, so any unintentional change (like something having come loose) will be fixed...

Hi Tommy

I'm sure I had the same problem about 4 years ago, and it was very difficult to get the speaker back into normal mode. I think it was cured by something very basic, eg re-typing it with the MSR.

Cheers

Try Completely Unplugging the problem speaker from the mains then re pluging it. Not just turning the mains switch off.
Always worth a try if you hav not already done so.
Cheers, Chris

Thanks, yes I guess that's what to try next. I bought the speaker from Crion, who also demoed/set it up for me, and I didn't think of writing down the settings - maybe I thought/hoped MConfig would be able to handle/store all that and I just needed a backup of the config file. But MConfig doesn't have much info on the DSP speakers...

Didn't see your answer before, Chris. Unplugging doesn't help, the mains cable was actually the one cable I changed on the 5000C smile I have tried unplugging again, but no go.

Is there a way, with the speaker in its current state, to read any settings it has? It would help me setup it afterwards...

Hi again

I spent a fraught couple of hours with my 5000C in this condition, and no amount of plugging/unplugging, re-configuring or resetting worked. As I mentioned, I'm pretty sure I had to disconnect all comms lines, and power up from the rear with the MSR pointing at the display and the number 6 depressed to reset it to Type 6 (as you will need for use with the G68). This got it out of the Test mode, but I lost all the settings and had to start again. If I remember correctly, I had gone into the Test set up to make an adjustment to the tweeter level, and that's when I found myself trapped!

Cheers

OK, thanks again. Then I will have to read the manual thoroughly and try to get hold of Crion... smile

Tommy,
I had a similiar situation with my 5500HC, I disconnected the comms and retyped to Type6 which got me out of the test mode.

Well, in that state it wasn't possible to move around with the menu buttons to be able to see the settings before retyping. I also didn't find any other way to continue, so a retyping - as prescribed - it was.

It's now working, though I have to go through the settings and make the best of it. Since I changed power amps for my fronts I anyway have to recalibrate.

Thanks for your help! smile

You retype by holding the number (1-6) corresponding to your needed type while moving the power switch to On. That's easy. More difficult is to know if retyping is the right thing to do.
