My 800 still has issues. I had to recycle the power to get it to work. I am astonished that such an expensive piece of equipment is not even reliable. It might be the best when it does work, but that is secondary to reliability.
Any ideas on when the update for the software including 1080p is coming out? Thanks.

Well if it helps any! I had problems like that with my 598 and now with the latest firmware it has been very stable. So the 800 should be fixed eventually.

I too have issues with 800V4 especially hard locking onto HDMI sources.It can often try many times to lock with relays clicking in and out but often it just ends up with a blank green screen. Unplugging the HDMI cable and reinserting it normally cures the problem. Meridian are aware of this. I know that a new version of software for the 800 is iminent and this will address a number of these issues. I think we are looking between 2-4 weeks for an unoffical launch. You will need to pester your dealer if you want this software before it's offically posted.

I also have a small concern with my 800.My issue is the tray on the 800 won't open on first time cold start. If the unit sits overnight and I attempt to open the tray to insert a disk it won't open. I have to give the bay door a slight tap and then it will open. After and during use it will continue to open on command from either the remote or front controls. It seems fine after warm-up.This condition only happens after the unit has been in stanby for a while.I can hear the tray attempt to extend out but until I tap it it just says on the display OPEN,NO DISK,
then goes back to idle without opening. Has anyone else encounterd this condition? I wonder if the software upgrade will take care of this fault.It did work fine after upgrade from v.2 to v.3
