When I say new meaning the unit is updated from v2.81. The buzzing sound is gone but still getting the error message, it's fetching ok but still when trying to save settings it gives me error BAD EEPROM CONTENTS. Not sure if I am doing it right, reloading Firmware or force the firmware to refresh. Just don't know how to do that......
I know this has been discussed around here before.
Thanks guys.

what setup software are you using.. BAD EEPROM CONTENTS i was told is when the settings are incorrect, Old settings file with new software.this means the settings may have changed memory location and casues a bad EEProm contents as what it expects is not a valid figure for the new software

BAD CODE COMBINATION is when upgrade of software has failed this is what Meridian UK told me.
you must make sure you have the latest version of mconfig and version 4.2 in the machine, earlier software in the machine than 4.2 you need to use legacy software. Retype the machine and then build a brand new settings file don't use the old one you fetched this is what I was old to do also.

Start over with a retype and rebuild the configuration from scractch using MConfig.

That will quickly sort out whether it's a firmware issue or not.

I think you will find it is settings as I said Meridan UK told me that.

BAD CODE COMBINATION is firmware issue wrong DSP code.

and

Bad EEPROM CONTENTS is wrong settings file in product.

the oly way to get rid of the 2nd is re-type and then make new settings file with the correct config program dependant on the version of software.

As the 2nd was my issue a retype fixed things then making a new settings file with the correct program worked.

To check what version sotware running in 861 press display in standby.

If 4.2 you need to use Mconfig.
If 4.1 and below you need to use legacy configuration program.

Use Legacy on a 4.2 machine you get "Bad eeprom contents"

cheers
Michael

Thanks John and thanks MTAT and everyone else including Mr.Meridian.
You all say retype,...How do I do that. I went to the manual book and they have Legacy Config program as a guide I just followed the manual.
Now can someone tell me how do I "RETYPE".
I am still half way there.
My unit is 4.2 and according to the manual which is written for Legacy config screwed things up for me.

What you get is a problem with an older configuration still in the memory of the 861. Been there, done that. Not just once.

Whatever you do, do not fetch a configuration from the 861. When you use the config software, just create a new file and put a config in from scratch. Once you're done with that, upload the file to the 861, that should sort it out.

About the Types, RTFM as suggested above should help. wink
It's all on page 50 of your manual. While the 861 is in stand-by, hold down the volume up key until it shows Type In..., keep holding it down for another 3 seconds. It will then show you the type number. You can select the type with the up and down keys. Choose the Type, then turn it off. That's it. But again, check the manual for more info.

It's all good. In the past I had no reason to "RETYPE" and all my Meridian processors worked fine up to now... But you live and learn. You got to read the manual.

I have had a bad code combination 2 weeks back (switched the 861 off/on too soon and result was code curruption)
Just run the Flash upload program, select the 861_v4.mfp file and press start.
It guides you through what you need to do.
Quite simple.
