Chris, Spirit Level, Dont Level your speakers unless thats how they sound best. Agreed, but start with the speakers levelled. None of this is seen in the Meridian Broucure or Ikea, but it will IMHO save you a fortune on expensive upgrades, mains leads etc etc etc Once upon a time a rich customer popped into his favourite hifi shop and asked his favourite salesperson: "I've got an unlimited budget, what should I buy? Speakers? Amplifiers? Cables?" The dealer replied: "Get yourself a new room." After all's been said and done, when there are enough books, records 'n' things in the listening room then the expensive and inexpensive tweaks (including MRC) really start making sense. So, IMO it's not "think Chintz" and forget about hifi tweaks, but "think Chintz" and don't forget the tweaks. I come back to what I've said earlier in this thread: It's the amount of care and attention that shows. m

Chris...(and the rest...)
I do love my wooden floors though and minimalistic style...
+ I am not to fond of the idea of filling my roomwith stuff - I kind of like the minimalistic design...
My room is not to bad accoustically - its a loft - so I have no parallell wals. -What I am struggeling a bit with is that i wouldn't mind seeing the bass a bit dryer.
-Mid range is quite good and so is the imaging.
-Treble is turning out to be my biggest issue. I am getting - specially when giving it some gass - a high pitch or if I might strained treble. Having heard them in another environment (my brothers) I judge it is either an accoustical issue or my electricity.
That's why I am looking for some WAF factor room treatments...
Any ideas - they are all welcome.
BTW - have a good christmas and a happy new year all of you.
Happy holidays Harald

Harald,
It may not be the cheapest solution, but using a G68 and MRC will allow you to tweak the bass content so that it ranges from dry to dessicated depending on what decay time you select.
When you've had MRC running for a while, it's worth switching it off just to remind yourself of what life was like without it.
Rgds, Nick

Being a long time Meridian addict - I broke the pact for a few years, but have found my way back the right path... My new system is really starting to open up, but I am seeking some advise. The system has been running more orless non-stop for three weeks now (not to many loud sessions - mostly running at between 65-70%) As of now the system is built up with a G91DH (v1.81), DSP5200 and a DSP5200C and I'm waiting for a set of DSP3100. The system works well in my room and I have few acoustical issues. I still miss a bit of open airedness and tightness in the bass.
1. Anyone tested out power cables and power distributors with any luck ?? I have been tampering around about -Nordost - Vishnu and Thor distributor or -Chapter audio - new power cables I heard the Vishnu on a 7000 set-up and they were fantastic, but I find thema bit on the pricy side... The Chapter I heard was supposed to be quite strong at a reasonable price
2. How the h...l do you get og the grilles of the speakers ? I am unable to tighten the drivers... Silly question probably, but I have tried for weeks and they are not budging - Your advise would be much valued
hopefully some of you can help me.
Thanks Harald

Run your forefinger around the grill and you'll feel a rounded out portion. Grab that between your thumb and forefinger and use that to pop the grill off.
If that doesn't work, just use your thumb and forefinger and work your way around the grill slowly and pull outward until it pops out.

Why do you want to remove the grilles? I did it on mine (just to see) and the speaker really doesn't look as good with them off.
Are we suggesting that the speaker will sound better with the grilles removed?

Daniel,
After about 2 weeks you're supposed to tighten down the bolts on the woofers.
