I renamed the other thread to UK.

This one should discuss the USA.

I personally am in favor of several small ones because I probably would not fly to one even though I'd like to, I just have too much going on. But if it's with in driving distance I'd be there.

I would propose 3

New England
West Coast (CA or NV)
South East (Orlando)

This is just to get folks talking...

Please feel free to add any critical info that was discussed on something in the US to this thread.

I'd vote a definite yes on this - propose having these 3 at offset times in the year to maximize particiaption by those that could travel;

I'm in the Orlando area and could help with this one; (obviously winter is the best time here);

How about the Southeast one be in Georgia, maybe even hosted at the Meridian facilities (so we can also see hear and touch new gear or see unique setups)?

All flights in the Southeast go through Atlanta anyway ;-)

given the location of M- , that's a good thought; assuming they are participating - perhaps even a tour of the facility...

One other thought. It might be good to schedule the get together in connection with another event. I attended CEDIA 2001 and met several Meridian enthusiasts and well a members of the Meridian staff including Bob, Andrew, Colin, Dave, Andy, Norm, Ken and Jason. There were not enough Meridian enthusiasts there for a private demontration, but had there been, I know Meridian would have accomodated us. Perhaps a demonstration at a local dealer could be arranged for the same time.

Having just toured the Atlanta "facility" in June 2005, I am not convinced that having a get together in Atlanta for that reason alone is good enough. The facility consists of a small repair area and a smallish demo area (that was not even functional when I was there) that they use for training and a bunch of offices that their sales staff utilize. I was expecting much more equipment set up and having the ability to hear a good cross-section of their current offerings.

I could get a better sampling of their product line from a local retailer like Audio-Visions South in Tampa. Also, the area that the Atlanta facility is in is located just down the road from Six Flags over Atlanta and I did not find the selection of hotels particularly appealling.

My two cents worth would be an area like Orlando for selfish reasons, but it could also offer unlimited opportunities to entertain our better halves and our children.

I agree that finding a Dealer or similar would make things a little more attractive and interesting.

One other east coast site to consider would be MD at JS Audio. I believe this guy has done "Meridian Demo Nights" (what ever you want to call it) in the past.

Well,

I live in Maryland and work just down the street from JS Audio. I have worked with Dennis before.

I am also the Director of Property Operations for Hilton to boot. I can certainly check on the best deals for lodging and meeting room options in the area, if things get this far.

Another great dealer is just a few hours away in Delaware by the name of Overture. I could also talk to Terry (the owner)and see if he would like to do a set-up room as well.
