As well as the 3100 there's also a new video switcher and extender with pictures on media centre. Look in product images/hdmax.

So that's how to handle multiple HDMI inputs.

It's a start to get a product to market, and it's meant to be hidden away in a rack.

I like the fact that it's comms enabled, which means one less component to worry about for macros.

I just wish it was a 5x1 switcher!

Best,

ROFL...
I hope that is just a WIP design. Where's the polished glass top! For the amount of money I'm sure it will cost I would want something a lil more classy. smile

Couldn't you just daisy chain two of them together John?

It would be interesting to try one of these to see if it cures my intermittent HDCP problem that I am having with my DVI equipped Loewe TV and G98.

Presumably it does not need to be connected to the comms if you use a Meridian DVD player with HDMI as the comms can be passed over the HDMI link?

George, maybe Alan Boothroyd was working on the power supply that has yet to feature.

Tom,

You never know what they'll cost until you see the MSRP.

Cheers,

Well spotted Chris,

It would be nice if there was some way to extract the audio feed from external HDMI devices and send it back to the processor via smartlink.

If this functionality (HDMI inputs) could be integrated into the existing M products with scalers and smartlink outputs, G91/98/800 for example, then the audio and video routing could all be dealt with via the HDMI input feed and sent out accordingly.

Come on M - give us an upgrade option.

Office: Roon ROCK on NUC7i5, Allo USBridge + iFi PSU, Prime Amp/PSU, Fostex TH900.
On the Go: Surface Pro, Explorer2, Sennheiser Momentum M2

I would have welcomed a product with two outputs. My current setup would need that (video needs to be routed from more than one digital source to a plasma AND a projector).

As some have said here before me, I'd favour keeping audio and video processing separate as much as possible.

Will it make a difference with HDMI though?

We already have video and audio switching in the G68. I don't see why adding HDMI to this is any different? Ofcourse, if you don't want video switching to possibly compromise any audio performance, then the G68J is an option. But I personally would like to see HDMI switching, and audio extraction to be an option on the G68.

Supporting audio via HDMI will probably be important for compatibility with other brands but SPDIF/Smartlink likely provides a better interface between Meridian components.

One of the UK magazines recently did a review of Denon's flagship AV products and the jitter figures were pretty horrible when audio data was sent over HDMI...Meridian's buffering tech may help though...

Paul.
