Patrick,

I'd also suggest a re-type and if that didn't do the trick then a re-load of the firmware.

The guy I sold my 568.2 contacted me to ask why it popped when he changed volume. Obviously, I was concerned as it had never done that but he was using the balanced o/p and I was on the digital side.

M told him to reload firmware and "hey presto"...problem fixed.

Great responses all round.

My Sky+ goes through a 518 into the 568.2(v2.5) so that isn't the cure for my setup.

But I do have +4 on the rear channels (B&W Matrix 802s via a 557 set to large) vs the front (B&W Nautilus 802s via a Chord set to large).

I'll wind everything down and see.

RTFM wink

It was something like hold the on/off button down until it say type. Sorry I don't still have the 568 or manual to be certain.

Patrick,

I have all my speakers set to small as it gives me the best overall balance also.

George,

I have checked and re-made cables several times. I have also reloaded firmware. Levels are all ok as measured with a sound meter. I have re-typed countless times. All this has not removed the occasional pops during musical passages on certain concert DVD's with 5.1 engaged (Dolby and/or DTS).

Any more ideas are very welcome as it's driving me nuts!

Hi Nick,

I reloaded the firmware (1.55) again yesterday and re-typed both with my own settings and the standard 5.1AAA type setting in the 568. Same problem with the pops! In the past, I also tried going back to V1.54 of the firmware, but the pops were still there.

I know that the fault lies in the 568 as I've tried different DVD players, amps, cables, subs, speakers.... If I switch to any type setting other that "All Small/Mono Sub", the problem disappears. I'm now virtually certain that it's a bug in the 568.

Any more ideas? Keep 'em coming....

Thanks.

Steve

Steve,
1.55? what's that ? I'm referring to the v2.5 beta software (sorry should have been clearer).

If you have a mix of old 1.55 on a 2.5 base, then that may be the issue.

Nick,

Mine is a 568.1 not a .2 version. AFAIK, I can't use 2.x software on the .1 version of the 568.

Steve, When I had my 568.1...I used 1.54 and never had problems...perhaps M broke something in 1.55. I would try going back to 1.54 and see if the problem goes away. I still have a copy if you need it but it should be on the M site.

Ron

Sorry...just saw your other post you tried this already.

Tried reloading 1.54 firmware again today, but popping still there on DD & DTS (not on stereo). Reloaded 1.55 firmware, same problem. Tried D1, D2, D3 & D4 digital inputs. All the same.

I'm sure it's software bug!

One disc that has particularly obvious pops on the left front speaker is the Phil Collins Finally The First Farewell Tour. If anyone has this, could you please try track 9 on Disc 1 (DD or DTS as it occurs on both). I get a couple of loud pops within the first minute or so, the loudest being just as Phil starts to sing. My type setting is "All Small/Mono Sub".

Thanks.

Steve
