I'm in a quandary - we are moving to a smaller space and am planning to revise my current setup (50/50 use for movies and music - mostly background).
Current setup: 565 596 M100 Left/Right M60C center
New space is an open design condo, 9.5 feet ceiling; system will be placed in a 12 feet wide portion of the unit, facing toward the open portion (59 feet long).
Consideration is to replace the M100's with M33's L/R and use a sub. However, since space/size is a consideration, I've also thought about replacing the M60C with an M33; have even considered M60C LCR (all set horizontally at ear level on shelves or bracketed in some manner to the wall).
Any thoughts from folks as to:
1) how much difference there would be between M33 LCR vs M33/M60C/M33?
2) Anyone tried M60C LCR in a horizontal mode like this?
I do understand there'll be a _major_ change from the M100's to the M33's, but I have resigned myself to this change. Furthermore, a streamlined design to the new setup is a major factor in the new space.
Unfortunately, I do not have a nearby dealer for a home trial.
Thanks...gregg

Hi, I have a M33c With my A500's on a 506 518 565 set up, with a M1500 sub and it sounds great. The M33 is a fantastic speaker, you will be astounded at what it can do for its size. Are the M100's Active? Always looking for a BARGAIN UPGRADE. HE HEE Enjoy, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Its too bad you are in the UK. I would have been interested in the M100s too. Our living room "Mini-Me" set-up uses M2s and M3s all the way around. I'd love to get my hands on some M10s or M100s to use for L/R mains. A pal owned a pair many years ago and his system is still to this day, one of the most musically satisfying I've experienced. Unfortunately your new abode seems to require some compromises. Are you sure you coudn't set the M100s up a little closer together (say 6' apart) and just dispense with the center channel altogether? I'm sure the M100s would sound much better than 3 shelf mounted M33s and a sub.

Thanks for the comments!
Yes, the M100s are active, fully analog speakers and sound great (for their vintage <g> ). My previous 7.1 HT used same setup plus M20s for rears & sides.
BTW, I am in the US and would be happy to sell them, but shipping would be a major hassle (and $$) due to their size, weight and necessary packing (I lost the boxes 9 years ago).
Amyone interested in picking them up in Kansas City, Missouri?? BTW, I have a spare pair of D600's too.

Hey Gregg,
Well you are closer than I thought (I'm in Ontario Canada) but probably still too far away in light of not having original original boxes. I can't even imagine How you'd safely package the M10/100s as they were pretty akwardly shaped beasts in that regard. What are you hoping to get for 'em, which wood veneer, and what shape are they in?

Wood veneer is walnut, great shape. Of course, speaker grill cloth is showing its age. They are a strange shape for sure, but the top half of the speaker separates from the base, so large boxes would work (total of 4 boxes). As to amount, I recall seeing some M10's on eBay selling for either $700 or $1200 (can't remember which). I'm easy going - shoot me a reasonable offer, pick them up and I'll buy the beer. BTW, here's a link to a photo http://www.laiben.com/ht/graphics/cscfrontspeaker.jpg ...gregg

Hey Gregg, you are too damn far away to make a road trip very viable but... 1) If you think you could pack the M100s well enough to survive the trip and 2) you'll accept $700USD plus shipping for 'em, I think I'm game. If the freight was crazy expensive and you just aren't comfortable with packing 'em I might still drive. Its just a long freakin' way. Let me know...

Vince,
I have a buddy who used to be a dealer in Lansing, Michigan who has a pair of M100's for sale. Great shape, they've been unused and boxed up for a while. Email me if you'd like to contact him.
