Hi guys

I am playing around with the bass management settings for the DSW subs.

Is there any work around to stop the 861 redirecting the bass from my 6ks and center speaker when I use the subs for anything other than LFE?

I really don't want my 5500C stuck on small and definitely not the 6ks.

I was hoping to use the DSWs to help smooth out bass nulls with music.

Cheers

Nick

Hi NPJ

Not sure if this an answer to your query as you do not define if you are using surround settings but if you select direct or stereo, direct will only use the speaker bass whilst stereo will use any sub available.

It's better to waste time, than time waste!

Hi Nick,

I don't believe there is a way ... IIRC Meridian's view is the base should be redirected not "doubled up".

You could try adjusting the cutover frequency down from the default (80Hz) so that only very low frequencies are affected, bass would still be redirected but it would allow a degree of tuning between your mains and the DSWs.

Regards,
Carl

Not for the 861, but I had a similar problem when I was using a DSW with my DSP7200SE and 218.

I bought the DSW to fill the nulls as well, this worked very well. However, I didn't want to set my DSP7200 to 80Hz. I liked the bass from the DSP7200 better.

Only way to do it was to set the DSP7200 in the speaker so it ignored SL input and fix it to FREE.

Setting the DSW to sub1 (80Hz) made them overlap. It worked, but I always missed a manually adjustable crossover. Would have been easy to do with DSP firmware I would think.

Thanks for the replies.

I only use Trifield for music.

It does seem strange that M wouldn't allow full use of their DSP's abilities just because you add one of their subwoofers!!

Having trouble getting a test tone from the rear sub at the moment, really can't see what is causing this, but another friendly HH is very kindly looking at my Mconfig to see I have missed something, cheers to Paul for that.

Thanks guys

Nick
