From "Dumb Blonde" - the first track on her first solo album - through "I Will Always Love You" to "Jolene", or wherever she took you with her Appalachian trills.
A remarkable, generous, talented lady who managed to be loud and brash and modest and self-effacing all at once.
Leaves a genuinely positive legacy of charity and music
Will be sadly missed.
RIP Dolly.

Agreed; she was one of the greats. Obviously "country" but she managed to transcend genres & social barriers to have an almost universal appeal & I don't ever remember seeing her without a big smile on her face.
Unique & irreplaceable.

I never understood why she didn’t ditch her man, when he was calling out Jolene’s name in his sleep. Then she begged Jolene not to take her man. Dolly you should have gone giv3n her a bunch of fives. Should have had a bit more self respect I think.

I never really appreciayted Dolly when I was younger, although Jolene struck a cord with me.
She was also a great supporter of her local community and this afternoon I heard on Radio 4 The Last Word that one of her charities to date has given over 325 million books to children, initially it was a local charity and is now nationwide in the States, currently sending out over 2 million books a month. She also had the biggest crowd at the Legends stage when she played it.
Now that is a Superstar.
May she RIP.
Owner since 1996 - 501, 506 and M60.2 Rosewood - Thanks Gerry
