Updated to include info exclusive to the 271 that describes the update as ESSENTIAL.

Date of release: 26th June 2026

Firmware release versions:

271 v1.1, build 272
218 v1.1, build 272
251 v1.1, build 272
ID41 v1.1, build 272

The firmware is contained within the download of Meridian Device Manager for PC v65. See below for details.

Overview

The update provides enhancements to memory handling within the operating systems of the products, which improves efficiency and reliability.

For 271, the update is categorised as ESSENTIAL. Failure to update any 271 may result in the unit becoming unusable, requiring a hardware repair. As such, this update must be applied in order to preserve the warranty status of the product.

For the streaming products (218, 251 and ID41), the update is categorised as ADVISABLE, BUT NON ESSENTIAL, and can be applied as and when convenient.

It didn't seem like updates all completed, however my 218 is now showing v1.1, build 272 and ID41's are showing v1.2, build 272. Is v1.2 correct for ID41 (vs. v1.1 in your post?)

All still have an update button available next to them, but it freezes at "Preparing for Update" if I click. Should the Update buttons still be available if updated successfully?

Cheers, Ian

The Device Manager doesn't show my 271.
It is connected to the same network as my pc.
The web interface works, same control app.

Anybody any ideas?

The unit appears to be functioning normally:
It obtains an IP address via DHCP.
It responds to ping.
The web configuration interface is fully accessible and all configuration pages work correctly.
However, the unit is not detected by Meridian Device Manager.
To troubleshoot the issue, I have tested:
Meridian Device Manager v52
Meridian Device Manager v64
Meridian Device Manager v65
on two different Windows 10 PCs, with the same result.
I also performed packet captures using Wireshark. The captures show that:
Meridian Device Manager sends SSDP M-SEARCH discovery requests.
The Meridian 271 does not send an SSDP Search Response.
The HTTP server on the 271 works normally, and the unit communicates correctly over the network.
I have also performed a factory reset from the web interface, but this did not resolve the issue.

I connected my 271 through my unmanaged switch to my pc.
Gave pc and 271 a static IP.
Device manager now finds my 271 and gives me the update option.
It stays on preparing device for update.
Sometimes I hear a soft plop so it seems it does do something.

Almost there, but not just yet.

That probably means your router is not helping with device discovery. Maybe the new few will help with that if your manage to get it loaded ok. Failing that start looking into the snooping capabilities of your router.

I already removed everything else from the switch.
So pc -> switch -> 271
Nothing else.

Meridian 271 Hardware Revision 0.3
Current firmware: Build 1001249 (display version 1.1)
Device Manager v64 and v65 both detect update Build 1001271 and 272.
When Update is selected, Device Manager remains indefinitely at "Preparing Device for Update".
The unit does not reboot into update mode. The web interface remains continuously accessible and ICMP ping is uninterrupted. Wireshark shows only the normal multicast advertisements and no firmware transfer is initiated.
Could this early hardware revision require a special recovery updater or intermediate firmware?
