I would like to let the mediators know that, from a couple of recent threads in the Hi Fi Chat there are remarks which are becoming political regarding which countries products should bought from or not. The companies involved do not dictate government policy and there should be no place for these comments in the forum and should be struck down.

Ever since I became interested in audio products back in 1973 I have expressed support for British audio, believing we have some of the best, and some of the best value, products. Quad amplifiers were wonderful back then and the release of the Quad 405 in 1976 was a ground breaking product. This is a Meridian focussed site, and those of us here who are British audiophiles are rightly proud of the heritage.
I expressed a view that British manufacturers of mains filtering devices are likely to understand British mains issues better. AC in the UK is rather different to AC in the US. I then expressed an entirely personal view - which I placed in parentheses - that (I am also wary of supporting a US company just at present, but that is a personal preference, albeit one that many share right now).
I don’t think any of that is terribly political actually. Others will hold different views on the substantive issue, and that’s what a forum is all about, surely?
