Greetings!
I'm starting to look past the ATV/Infuse for better HDR support and such.
I know the early Dune BD Prime's had no problems decoding lossless TrueHD/DTS Master HD and output to LPCM 7.1 via HDMI. Thus an UHD722 works perfect with it.
Today an AppleTV 2022 with Infuse PRO subscription does this as well.
What about the newer Dune HD Solo 8K.
I know the easiest thing to test these was to load up an atmos 7.1 lossless demo file from Dolby and if the UHD722 received 6ch or two speakers were silent you KNEW the unit is not reading the lossless BED tracks but the DD 5.1 lossy fallback stream.

Hello  Short answer is yes Dune media players with Amlogic S9** processor's will decode HD audio codecs to PCM. I dont have a Dune HD solo 8K, but I do have a Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus which is an Android TV that run's Dune software to makes it a Dune media player. At first I was happy with how it decodes audio and was impressed with an Atmos/True HD test track how the sound from the height channels did sound thru my 5.1 system. But at least with my specific Dune model, it only decodes to 16 bit. 48k or 96k pcm. This is because it runs Android. The other Dune players run off linux and I dont think have this issue but I would check with Dune support to confirm.

The Dune 8k Pro One has the convert to LPCM function.
I still have to try it with the HD621 but according to the spec sheet it should convert into multichannel.
The 8k versions seem to run on the same motherboard / software.

Good news, the 8k Cinema Dune contains the HDFury VROOM chipset with two inputs and two outputs. This means we can piggyback an ATV and a Console on this modern HDMI switch/player. Dune 8K Cinema

It looks a very intriguing media player with lots of possibilities. Out of the current Dune media players its seems the one to get.
But its been reported that the latest 8k Dune players does not support Dolby Atmos.
and reading the specs
Full support for HD audio
The media player can output all formats of HD audio (up to Dolby TrueHD and DTS X) to HDMI in bitstream passthrough mode. Additionally, the media player can decode all formats of HD audio to multichannel PCM (up to 7.1 channels).
May be an issue for some.

I’m currently remodeling so I can’t give any feedback yet.
