My otherwise wonderful DSP9s will sometimes stop playing music files from Roon when the bit rate changes, even though the new song will continue through the SPDIF outputs of my Singxer DDC. Why do they lose lock over the SpeakerLink (AES/EBU) connection, and what can I do about it other than forcing a constant 96 or 192 rate?

I would prefer not to up or down sample my music to keep the speakers from muting.

You can plug USB into the speaker and use the Meridian app on Mac or PC to see the incoming sample rate and stream.info.

Thanks. I may go over to USB once UpTone Audio releases their replacement for the ISO-REGEN hopefully this year, but I am crazy for the sound of AES through my DDC and Network Acoustics M-Links for now.

You can introduce a time delay between sample rate changes in Roon to give the DAC a chance to lock on. Worth trying on. I use it as my DAC takes half a second or so to switch over.

I second the suggestion to use Roon settings to give a delay so equipment can lock on - definitely worth trying first before resorting to USB (which I have never found to sound as good in various DACs and endpoints).
