Hi All new to the forum.
I've been a Meridian user since my teens. Starting off with the modular preamp and a pair of balanced M3's with dedicated stands. Bought their pro MCD player and in my early twenties bought a pair of M10's. Few years later I bought 208CD pre. All the above apart from the MCD Pro I still have today.
Last year I delved into streaming after finally getting decent internet at home in Scotland. The first thing I tried with my CXN v2 was to use the 208 as a transport with the CXN v2 DAC.
My issue is the optical outputs on the 208 are lit up. But every time I try a digital output from the 208 whether it be optical or coax I get no sound. This is with all 4 of the DACs I have at home. Even comes up error when plugging into the optical in on my Sony MD recorder.
Can anyone give me any help with this issue.

Hi all, has anyone tried an external DAC with a 208?
I'm getting no sound from either the optical or coax output on my 208, even though the optical light is on. Using the internal DAC, everything works fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
If you add the brand and model of the 208 and the DAC, you'll likely get more useful replies.

I can confirm that an external DAC should work fine with the output of a 208. Suggest feeding your DAC from an alternative SPDIF source in the first instance to make sure your DAC and cable are all working OK.
