My wife is experiencing a serious outbreak of “New Year cleanout syndrome” and is insisting I dispose of stuff sitting in the corner of my office. One such item is a long unused 861v4 with a typical set of cards but the power supply is suspect and almost certainly needs replacing.

Given I’m in Australia there is a limited market for used M gear locally and the cost of shipping an 861 to the UK/Europe/USA might be an issue for anyone contemplating buying it. Unfortunately I do not have the 861’s original box so that’s an addditional issue if it has to be shipped.

So - should I try selling it or just strip out the cards and sell them separately and consign the remains of the 861 to the local tip?

Cards:
VS00 - Video Switch
TP00 - Tape Output
IA00U - Analogue Input
OA03 - Analogue Output
IE42 - Digital Input
OE12 - Digital Output
SL0 - S-Lead patch
ID40 - Soolos
C00 - Computer

I’m sure others will chime in, but I believe the PSU, if it is the original switch-mode, is not expensive and is almost a drop-in replacement. That being the case, I would sell the whole unit. Being rare in Aus works both ways - there may be someone looking for one of these! They are wonderful units and sound superb.

Rick

That sounds like a good suggestion. Can you tell me the Mean Well model number (they have so many on their website I couldn’t decide which would be the correct one.

Thanks in advance for your help

Sorry I used the 75 watt type. MEAN WELL RPT-75B You have to order the 5, 12- and 12+ volt type
It takes a little modification of the connector.

Do a good search as the prices seem to vary a lot

Hello Rick,

What change did you need to make to the connector?
