I don't have much luck with UHD722 machines!

This time my lounge UHD722 suddenly sent all pictures to my TV with a strong green colour. Pulling the HDMI cable out and re-seating it made no difference. Replacing the HDMI cable made no difference.

I changed the HDMI TV input from 1 to 3 and for a short while this worked and then the green returned.

I mainly use the SKY puck so tried the Sony 4K player with the same green effect.

I then connected the SKY puck directly via HDMI and voila perfect picture which pushed me back to the 722. Good news, it wasn't the TV on the way out!

I turned all the system kit off and on again but no change.

I tried this again and things went from bad to worse as the green screen became a black no picture screen!!

After discussing this with a Meridian dealer he suggested a mains power cycle of the 722 which I did and suddenly the problem was gone! The classic IT turn it off and on again!

I share this information in case another HH experiences a similar problem and that this may save another HH a lot of time, frustration and head scratching to find a solution

I have no clue what set this off and obviously very happy that the machine is running well again.

Speculation very welcome.

Hi Colin,

Not sure which version of UHD722 you're using but I used to have similar issues.

Since changing to the v2 version and running the latest software (1.1.5) I've had few issues.

I replaced my LG G1 with a Sony A95L about a year ago and this sort of issue never occurs although very occasionally a green screen appears but disappears immediately as the TV/UHD722/Sky Q resolve HDMI exchanges.

I'm using Sky Q not Sky Puck but I guess it's very similar. My speculation is that it is a HDMI handshake issue. The Sony A95L was a vast improvement on the LG G1

Regards
Bob

Bob,

Thanks for sharing your experience and speculation.

My UHD722 is a v1 with the latest firmware on board.

Regards
Colin

When I upgraded to the v2 UHD722 the overall picture improved as did the sound but the main improvement was SDR/HDR switching and HDR10 / Dolby Vision detection and processing from the Oppo 203. Sky Q channels only do HLG but the Apps will provide HDR10.

I have UHD722 v1 and 1.15FW.

I find that I often have to reboot the UHD722 to get proper HDR into the projector. It doesn't matter if I try the Re-Sync button on the projector remote. The Ol' reboot of UHD722 does the trick!

I investigated more about the missing HDR 'sometimes' in the UHD722 chain.

I nailed it down to powering on the Source LAST. Once I understood that I First start the projector then select the source on Meridian UHD722 to the apple-tv, thirdly powering on the ATV itself. Then I get HDR correctly every time.
