Hi all,

I’ve been reinstalling systems, and I can’t seem to get the DSP3100HC to wake up with my G65, no matter how hard I try.

The system has legacy DSP5200s, with the Master connected directly to the processor via a Reviver, then an S5 lead to the Slave. The DSP3100HC is connected to the center channel Speakerlink on the G65, but irrespective of whether I use a Reviver or an AC12, it never comes out of standby.

I’ve started and restarted components in order, and I’ve retyped the DSP3100HC to Type 1 manually … but no dice. Anyone got any ideas about what I might have missed?

Cheers … Kent

I presume you also connected comms with the DSP3100HC, in my experience using a AC12 or Reviver I also had to connect legacy comm's, in orde to make it work.

A center speaker is also recommended to make a master, and the other speakers slave in the chain.

I’m figuring it’s a comms problem … there’s legacy comms on the G65, with the 240 degree master DIN socket, and slave 180 degree DIN socket on the DSP3100HC. So I’m not really sure how I interconnect the legacy comms to get everything to talk

With DSP3100 speakers, you could use either BNC (75ohm) or DIN socket plugs, whatever you like.
I always use DIN socket plugs.

When the DSP3100HC is a master speaker, you need to use a DIN Socket M5 lead or a BNC cable ( 75 ohm) on the input ≈
https://www.Meridian-audio.info/public/5serleads%5b189%5d.pdf

You can connect your other slave speakers, connected to the DSP3100HC using DIN socket or BNC use the output connection.
What slave speakers are you using with the DSP3100HC ?

Hope this info helps..

Hey Kent,

I too use Revivers, I found for connecting extra speakers needed a comms cable (used BNC).

Sometimes needed to run it back to the processor ~but don't recall exactly with my G65 tests a while back. The G61 with the BNC would run one just to make life easy.

I know Robert offered the Revivers in multiple forms, depending on intended use.

Thanks for the tips, guys … ran a BNC cable from the HD621 to the DSP3100HC and everything is now tickety-boo.

Cheers

You need to connect the L/R master output of the G65 to the AC12, then the Master output of the AC12 to the Master Speaker. Then S lead between the speakers and crucially S lead from the slave speaker out to the slave comms socket of the AC12. This last connection makes Slave comms available at the slave outputs of the G65.

For the centre you then need to use the slave output C/S to a second AC12. You also need a special master cable to connect the AC12 to the Centre https://www.Meridian-audio.info/public/ac12_-_m5_lead_modification%5b3085%5d.jpg if you want the centre to also supply comms to a sub. There is no need to connect slave comms back to this AC12.

Alternatively you can ignore comms on the second AC12 entirely and use an S lead from the slave L/R to the Centre comms in and then return the centre comms out to the FIRST AC12 with another S lead.

From what you wrote, I think just making the slave comms return from your slave L/R to the first AC12 will fix your issue.
