Just acquired a PV1D and on playing one particular CD the cones started flapping around, but were not producing much sound. Happened with just this one CD, others are fine. Seemed as though there was a lot of low frequency junk on the disc. The disc was 'Erik Satie Gnossiennes etc., pianist Reinbert de Leeuw, Philips 446 672-2, 1992/5'.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the PV1D, but cannot be sure. Anyone have any ideas?

I own a PV-1, hooked-up to my Loewe Bild7.55.

How is your PV-1D connected to your system?

Just got the sub so I am trying it out with an analogue system initially - Oppo 93 to Pioneer 6090 TV via HDMI, TV sound out to Audiolab 8000 and thence to old Spendor SA1's and to PV1D via the 8000 speaker outputs to high level sub input.

If your source doesn’t have the ability to limit the cut-off frequency to, say, 80hz, your PV-D1 will simply ‘sing along’ with your primary component (thus appearing to be out of control).

If there is a lot of movement without a lot of sound than its very possible infra sound / rumble in the recording. Infra sound is not audible because the frequencies are below the limit of human hearing (20hz) but can make speakercones dance.

Thank you for your comments. Most of the subs I have seen have a physical switchable filter, so you know where you are, but the PV1D has a software activated filter and that may be off, as Spinaltap suggests. I will have a look around and report back.
