I have some friends looking to get a decent hifi for their new house. I think some Meridian speakers would suit them well.

I am envisaging them being used for TV and Spotify (or Tidal if Spotify lossless never comes). Roon will be too much of an ask.

With that in mind, I think a Bluesound Node might be enough of a source, if we go for some DSP5200, or maybe M6/3200 via the AC200.

I know that the MS200 provides some extra configuration, but looking at the data sheet, it is not clear how much this really brings, and if it is only available through the IP, and not directly on the speaker.

As they won’t be using Roon, is an MS200 worth it for just the configuration settings?

The MS200 acts as a streaming source but only within a Sooloos or a Roon system, so I don’t think that’ll be much use to you.

The MS200 is fantastic piece of kit. It has analogue output and has SpeakerLink output with enough settings to control a pair of DSP and a DSW subwoofer.

Its settings are only accessible through IP, which works fine.

The downside is that it has no digital input to serve as preamp and it will only work with Roon (or Sooloos). So if Roon is not an option the MS200 isn't either.

The only Meridian streamer that is accessible by other ways than Roon is the 210.
