I live in India and recently the fuse on one of my DSP7200SE's blew out. I contacted the local dealer (in Mumbai) and it turned out the the transformer is blown out and needs to be replaced. Not only is this expensive (an equivalent of 640 USD) but it has taken almost 3 months to get the part from UK and get it fixed (actually it's not in yet - should be in by Monday). So I really don't want this to happen again.

I am assuming there are voltage fluctuations in the local power supply and that led to this (I got the speakers upgraded in 2020, so the electronics is 4 years old). The dealer is recommending a power conditioner - they have a Audioquest Niagara 1200. But I am not sure if that's the best option after reading this thread. Any advice?

The Niagara 1200 might offer sufficient surge protection. I'd check with AudioQuest to be on the safe side.

The alternative might be to buy a couple of surge protected sockets or find out whether it's possible to add them to your consumer unit (fuse box). We did the latter to protect the whole house.

I wonder if an APC Schneider UPS with surge protection would suffice?

I do believe that APC provides support in India.
