Not seeing an HS option.
I am seeing an "EXauto" checkbox where an “HS” checkbox might have been.

What is EXauto?
Not finding reference or description in any of the manuals.

In the Meridian Configuration Program, Right click on the speaker, go to properties the first option is "96\24 bit capable" the choices are Yes or No, if they are 18 bit speakers, untick the checkbox. Do this for all applicable speakers and store your changes.

Right click on the HD621 and both output rate = 96k and MHR are configuration options there. It sounds like it’s the addition of the HD621 which may have caused the problem- if it’s set to send 96k MHR into the 861 that may well upset the configuration of the rest. Make sure the HD621 is set to 96k = no and MHR = no first, then check each speaker is set as legacy 18/24 48. Then update the HD621 and the 861 config to the units.

Thank you Julian, I’ll give that a try.

Viewing the HD621 from within the Meridian Configuration app the first two lines under HD621 Properties / Audio are;
Audio Output = SmartLink/MMHR
MHR Connection = SmartLink

Are those two lines independently configurable as well and if so to what should the be set?

Thanks again,
Richard

First one is just to configure whether the audio continues on to the tv or stops at the HD621 and goes into the Meridian processor. Second one is effectively meaningless. Smart link is the only real option. Make sure to set channels correctly - 6 for anything other than a late 861 connected, then if not using mmhr (RJ45) take care over the connection. Back surround should be on 5/6.
Then at the bottom, untick output rate 2* (96k) and MHR.
