I have an 808v6 and MC200, would I hear an improvement going from my 5200.2's to 5200SEs my thoughts are yes. Would it be worth the cost?
Used for 2 channel listening, CD and MC200.
Does sound good with a movie in my opinion.

There are many improvements going to an SE version, especially if they are factory versions and not upgrades. In my opinion it is well worth to cost difference.

Thanks, I will look into this option.
I do have a pair of 7200.2s unfortunately my wife is not keen on having these replace the existing 5200s in the room.

I went from 5200 legacy to 5200SE (upgraded) and the difference was 'night and day'. The bass was lower, tighter and more textured, the top end was very detailed but smooth and the mid range clarity and presence was improved. 808v6 and 5200SE is a fabulous system.

Thank you for your experience with these. This is the route I will go and try to keep the M gear running as long as I can.
I did consider changing all my M equipment, not sure what for.

If you have 7200.2 you’re not allowed to use, that’s such a shame!
Yes, there is a huge, huge difference between 5200.2 and factory SE (with the clamp rings).
7200.2 are better in almost every way, but don’t quite have the last little bit of texture, timbre that the beryllium tweeter brings. They have more scale, punch and authority though, and sound more effortless.
I’ve listened to a lot of stuff out there in the last few years, and you would have to spend a lot more money (far more than 5200SE factory) to get anything better than either those or 7200.2
Have you actually tried 7200.2 in the room? Not being funny, but once they’re installed, they’re not much bigger to look at than 5200s. It’s only the depth which is significantly bigger, not the frontal aspect. Might be OK if you put them in there for your wife to see…?
If she accepted them in the room, you could sell 5200s and find a 7200SE upgrade kit? There’s bound to be some somewhere which are still available…

Originally when we moved in the 7200.2s where in the room and they are intrusive, so I purchased a pair of 5200.2s and the 7200.2s went into the larger kitchen/dinner. Works great in this location but very rarely used.
So will sell the 7200.2s to fund the 5200SEs and then decide if I require a second system in the kitchen/dinner.

808v6 and 5200SE is a stunning system, I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it.
