The Dutch distrubitor and a English dealer told me the latest official .2 version is 2.63. 3.16 is SE only?

That is incorrect, there is a 3.16 version that is specific to 7200.2 speakers.

To be more clear. v 3.16 firmware for the DSP8000.2, DSP7200.2, DSP5200.2 is currently not posted on the dealer resource section of Meridian's website. However, it does exist as I have all the versions on my PC. Curiously, firmware previously available for the DSP8000XE is also missing from the firmware section for current products For DSP5200.2 owners, there is a version 3.20 available for these speakers as well. The caveat being this information was current as I am writing this post. YMMV.

I asked this question a few years ago from memory 3.16 was the latest for DSP .2 speakers. Unfortunately I did not post for a few years and my old user name and login are no longer recognised, so created a new one.
This is because I am looking at options on my current system.
The question is 3.16 suitable for 5200.2s and 7200.2s as my old dealer (now gone) installed 3.16 on my 5200.2s?

I am unsure as to why 3.16 has been removed. However, I am told that 3.20 addressed an issue with the 5200SE and presumably 5200.2 series running 3.16 would run about -6dB when compared to speakers running 2.63

Perhaps 3.16 brought .2 soundwise to close to se or it ran into problems due to limited processor power?
