Dear Meridian user
I have recently decided to try HQPlayer in my Meridian 818. My current set up is
Music file stored in NAS, running Roon core in Mac Mini M1, output to ID41 as endpoint. All works well.
However, when I tried to use HQPlayer through Roon (ID41 disable), HQPlayer fails to see ID41 as endpoint. This resulted to an inevitable outcome that no music is played into my main stereo system.
I wonder have anyone in this forum managed to test the setup similar to mine; may be someone can provide some insight on where the issue is.
Many thanks.
Chi

ID41 will only work with Sooloos or Roon.

Thanks Bruce for your information.
Ok then
I have a thought, I can technically connect the 818 via USB to the Mac Mini, that way HQplayer may see the 818 as the endpoint?
Any thoughts? Anyone

You posted above that you use HQP with Roon but ID41 disabled. Maybe it is too obvious but you have to enable the 818 USB Zone in Roon.

The 818 is genuinely superb. IMHO, the reason for owning one, especially if it's a v3(?), is to use Meridian's proprietary upsampling, apodising, etc.
Having compared the 818v3, back in the day, to other high-end dacs, including DCS, etc., it was by no means lacking.
I also recall the USB input on the 818 being significantly behind the ID41 input in sound quality.
Are you running the 818 into DSPs, or analogue? In my opinion, if you like the Meridian sound, the only step up in an analogue system would be the Ultra DAC. For a DSP 2-channel system, there is no better source.
