I'm using a WiiM mini and the optical output + Tidal connect, very happy with the sound.

Or use a Raspberry Pi to iPod HiFi 30-pin-dock Adapter for Airplay Audio Streaming. If you use Rasberry Pi Zero II you can use it for Roon Endpoint.

I use a RasperyPi with a Hifiberry Digi2 Pro board running Roon core kit. Connecting the optical input I can stream all my music or Tidal. Works very well.

Hi

Mine was gathering dust to but recently has had a new lease of life as a soundbar for my projector.

I run a mini toslink from projector to m80 and it’s amazing.

Also use my Wiim mini which was recommended by a member on here, superb little set up.

1 meter from the wall has always worked best for me

My F80 most priced connectivity is the Optical In.
I use it with a 218 (TV outputs toslink into 218) and then I added a MS210 for bluetooth connectivity (yes a bit of overkill with two ROON endpoints but it's done). I use an IFI Optical/RCA SPDIF converter to handle optical connectivity out of the 218->F80. I hide the 218/210 combo nearby with good quality optical cables going in and out.

I would also say that this setup sounds better than F80 on its own with just TV optical->F80. It's a soundquality upgrade. smile

The LG OLED is mated with an ATV4K3 on the backside and a Nintendo switch.

SWMBO explicitly wanted the Ferrari Yellow F80 to stay and just improve its connectivity. Otherwise I could just add two DSP3200 speakers to the 218/210 combo and be done with it but this was not right for the room.

Gosh, I bought a Naim Muso-qb 2 thinking to replace or upgrade the F80. It didn’t hold a candle.

2024, I’m still so impressed by the F80 and over 25 years I’ve been through enough audio equipment (too many $10k-30k systems to admit) to know whats truly good and reviews and hype more times than not don’t translate into my real world experience. Maybe the Ellipse trumps it when avail 2nd hand at better price. Used with wiim mini
