Good evening 'Hikers,
Would anyone be able to provide me with a copy of the Meridian Legacy program?
I have the Meridian setup.exe, but whenever I attempt to install the Legacy application, the installer is unable to connect with the relevant area of the Meridian site, therefore I'm unable to complete the installation.
I'm using an old-ish PC running Windows 95, with an ancient version of Internet Explorer so my connectivity is limited. I'm a long-time Mac' user for all the important stuff...
TIA
Mark

I'm pretty sure the Legacy config is included in the later software suite that you can download here.If I'm wrong and it's not in there email me your address and I'll send you a copy of the Legacy config.

Yes the legacy setup is in the normal setup. Make sure you manually select it, during the install.

Thank you for the information!
Aš”came on over my head and I recalled that I had a USB 3.5ā floppy drive in my āattic of forgotten electronicsā, so after some rummaging, I located it and used the original Meridian 3.5ā discs to install the program.
So far, so good.
The background to this is that after a disaster with a G68 following several power cuts that required two new power supplies, there resulted in a bang and lots of smoke and I consigned it to a skip. To replace it I purchased a used C61R. Sadly this was a complete dog.
Iāve lost patience with the G-Series stuff and so Iāve gone back to a trusty 568.2MM - I had one c.15 years ago and regretted upgrading to a G68 ever since. Hence my need for the Meridian Legacy Program.
The version of the Legacy program I have on the discs however does not appear to have the 568.2 MM configuration, so Iām unable to assign inputs (handled by an HD621) to the MHR input. And the Legacy program will not recognise a Com Port in the PC using a Keyspan USB-Serial adapter (which I know works).
I shall download the Meridian suite from the link you have provided and try again.š¤
To be continuedā¦

Use the latest version of the legacy configuration program. It is located within the link already provided here. The last version supports 2.5b9 from the 568.2, I also use it and works fine. Still a great pre/pro if you ask me the 568.2, even more with dspc00044 and NOS-Srx from Mr. ApodizerThis article is also interesting if you ask me, about the 568.2 vs G series..

Thanks for info..
I have previously downloaded the suite of software from the link, and have done so again, but the installation fails as it is unable to connect with the Meridian Audio server to check for updates.
The netbook I am using (running Windows 95 XP) is 100% connected to the internet, albeit itās somewhat amusing looking at contemporary websites with an ancient browser.

When I used the link referenced, I was able to download the configuration program, but could not connect to the Meridian website to update the program. It wasn't until Bruce Sinclair (CMB Integrations) provided me a dropbox link to the program which only then allowed me to connect to the Meridian website to update the program. IIRC I didn't find the Legacy program until I had updated.
Therefore: You might PM Bruce for the Dropbox version of the Mcfig as I found the Korean site program lacking.
Good luck!

I experienced no problem downloading and installing the legacy program from the Korean AV site.

I used the same computer running Windows XP plugged into the same ethernet cable. The only difference for me was the program source.

Thankfully, after some much appreciated help from a fellow āHiker, Iāve now accessed the Legacy program and the 568.2 MM is now setup and functioning.
Iād forgotten what a great piece of kit the 568.2 MM is.

Iād forgotten what a great piece of kit the 568.2 MM is. Congrats! I completely agree with you, the 568.2mm is still held high in my book as well. Still have mine in storage. Good condition ones still go for decent money. Always loved the 500 series ergonomics and form factor as well and that exclusive all digital DVD-A signal path back in the day allowed MHR to be repurposed for lossless HDMI audio + source control all these years later which made M look like geniuses. The last 568.2mm firmware added the "Smart Source" preset architecture of the G-series and 861. So it functions like any late model M processor would despite being 21+ years old but in a 500 form factor. Truly amazing, really. Out of the former Meridian pre-pro product line, both in value and SQ, the 568.2mm is arguably the best kept secret. Add a HD621 or 722 and the sound quality of the MHR link beats out many 10yr newer 4/5 figure 7.2ch processors with a direct HDMI bitstream hook up in clarity and dynamics. And it's not just the source PCM decode and HDMI audio de-embed, but rather what Meridian does with the signal in the processor that makes the difference. The filter and upsampler of MHR is the real deal. I suppose Chord's m-scaler for 2ch is similar. The clarity, channel separation and noise floor was better than everyone else until Trinnov showed up and even then, I'd only recommend a Trinnov, Datasat or Theta unit for Atmos setups otherwise for channel based surround, Meridian all day. Processors designed with custom modular card based designs, whether visible externally or inside always tended to sound best in my experience. Commercial theater processors have used the same card based architecture since the 70s. I like to think of the 568.2mm as a mini-fied, early 2K DCP PCM 5.1 era (circa 2008/2009) quality theater processor in your house that also plays music equally as good as it does legacy 35mm format SR/AC-3/DTS and Mono encoded program material. Much of the channel processing and mapping functions use logic like that of a theater processor. I've only seen Lexicon and Datasat offer similar channel remapping logic for the consumer market. It's nice not having to engage an aggressive upmixer just to get decorrelated (not just summed and attenuated) back surround fill playing 5.1 material. 95% of consumer processors (even "high end") leave these channels silent or force an active upmixer which is often badly implemented and adds unwanted artifacts and other imaging negatives. Enjoy your 568. Sorry for rambling but I loved mine and hope you enjoy yours in good health
