The G61 is the controller.
If disconnected from the mains, then reconnected or rear power button used for some reason, treble, bass etc will go back to default values for each source.

If you don't 'save' the required adjustments, either to a new pre-set or those 'built-in', they will re-set to default values each time you power off.

Page 43 of the manual:

The G61 Digital Surround Controller allows you to modify any of
the built-in presets, and save them for future use.
You can either save the changes to the built-in preset, or you can
create up to 10 presets of your own, with names of your choice, so
you can use them alongside the built-in presets.
To save the preset settings
• Make sure the menus are unlocked; see To run the Configuration
Wizard, page 15.
• Press DSP to select the preset you want to modify.
• Change the preset parameters to the values you want to store.
• Press More then Store, or Function + Store on the MSR+.

They are SAVED. In my case I overwrite the STEREO with new treble, bass etc values.
Regular (front button) on/off keeps the new settings, no problem.
Rear on/off or power outage won't keep them.

Are you certain the 'menus' are 'unlocked' ?

As far as I'm aware toggling this feature is ONLY available via the 'config' program and not the front panel 'wizard config'........on my G68 & C61R this is the case.

Might be worth a 'fetch' just to prove this feature has the 'checkbox' unticked.

Unless you enjoy having a bad day, never, ever fetch. You will get all sorts of bad results and reported equipment and settings. Always create an initial config from scratch and revise as needed, then store as a user type so it can be recalled from the front panel.

What Bruce says is true, I know as I was possibly the first person to report this issue to Meridian over 25 years ago, but it looked like you were performing config via front panel only and this is probably the only way to determine if this feature ( Menu Unlock) is enabled.

As a side note, I have never noticed any issues with regard to this in the controller 'set-up' page during a fetch.......other things are a completely different story and with a complex set-up......!

This is not a big problem, just somewhat annoying.
You'd expect a setting to be saved internally until a full reset. The other major settings, speakers, inputs etc. are saved the way you'd expect obviously.
Mconfig I would not touch for this. I have not used it for a few years and I remember you really have to know what you are doing there.

Those marked * are not parameters of individual presets, so can't get saved as parameters of any preset. They persist globally through standby, it would seem but not through power off, which is somewhat reasonable since they aren't configuration settings. If they were configuration I'd expect them to revert at system boot to whatever configured value they had rather than whatever had been last set manually.

From the G61RSL manual:

To run the Configuration Wizard
• If necessary press On/Off to put the digital surround controller
into standby.
• Press More.
If the product is locked the display shows:
VERSION UNLOCK
• Press Unlock to unlock it, then press More.

You don't need to execute the wizard after the unlock.


To lock just press MORE and LOCK

Press More.
The display shows:
VERSION IR WIZARD CALIB LOCK

Just spent the last hour playing with a 'spare G68' and what you say seems also to be true of this unit, even if you designate a 'New User' preset and assign it to a source with Bass and Treble modifications they do not 'hold' after a power removal.

Other DSP parameters can be altered and these retain their settings (which is all I have ever done).

It must be noted that bass and treble are also not available on the config program DSP parameters, so maybe that is the clue?

Incidentally, if the 'menu unlock' is not enabled, the 'store' feature is disabled and you would not have this ability.

Still not too old to learn!
