Hi all I went to listen to my Stax 009's but the SRM007Kimik energiser wouldn't power up. I tried the lead in my amp & it's ok so it's something internal. Any kind soul had similar problem? Any responses much appreciated

I had a similar problem with my Stax SRM-717 energiser. I just needed to replace the internal fuse and all was fine again.

Yes, it was visible, in my 717 anyway - just a little fiddly to replace. I had to source a replacement fuse from Mark Dolbear of Electromod (Stax service). It was very cheap, but I can't recall exactly how much. Even if it doesn't fix the problem you've wasted very little money. Good luck!

If it's anything like my previous Stax Energiser, it will have several larger fuses for the headphone output and a smaller fuse near the power inlet, it's the smaller fuse you'll want to test/change.

If you're going to take the lid off, I'd leave it at least 24 hours after it was last plugged in as the voltages inside are high (higher than mains voltage) and remain for a while as the capacitors discharge. I'm told most caps now have discharge resistors that will drain them more quickly, but I wouldn't want to play inside the box unless I know they are discharged.
