Hi,
Has anyone got a 557 they’re happy to part with?
I sent mine off to get fixed but sadly it’s a non starter!

I have two 557s and have been considering selling one of them but can't quite bring myself to do it. That said, are you sure yours is completely dead? One of mine was also pronounced dead but I found a very talented bloke in Croydon who rebuilt it and it's now better than ever. It wasn't cheap but was no more than a good second hand 557. I guess it depends on the magnitude of the fault in yours?
System: DSP7200SE (upgraded) + RPI (PiCorePlayer) with Allo Digione running Squeezebox system.
Also various legacy 500 components - 557x2, 502, 508-20bit, 566-24bit plus too many other misc amps/speakers.

Hi Ashley.
I took it to mr tech guy. He’s an ex Meridian engineer. He said it looks like one of the internal tracks on the multi layer board is damaged. Unfortunately these very difficult to get hold of so I’m on the hunt for a another one. Let me know if you can bring yourself to part with yours.

Thanks for you message. I took it to mr tech guy Who used to be a Meridian engineer. He said the multi-layer board is damaged so he couldn’t fix it as that part is almost impossible to find. So I’m on the search for a good second hand one.

FWIW, a 555 has just popped up on UK eBay with a £425 asking price. I know it’s not a 557 but…
