Title says it all. Tried to power up the Control:15 (it had been down for a few days, since a power cut a few weeks ago, and now won't power on.

The external power trandformer/brick lights up green when plugged in to mains (green LED is on). But soon as I attempt to power up the unit via the rocker button, the LED goes out. No response from the unit at all.

Not sure if the fault is the external transformer, or the Control:15 unit itself. One thing I did notice, is the transformer plastic casing is splitting in half along the join. Don't know if the two halves were glued together and the heat weakened the join? Probably not a factor but thought it worth mentioning.

Are they possible to fix at all these days? Be a shame to have to bin it as I really liked the system.

Have you checked/replaced the BIOS battery?

The external power supplies are known to fail. Replacements are available. The budging of the case sure points to its failure.

The Bios battery was replaced a couple of years ago, but I suspect it’s the power supply as there is no life at all.

If the battery was gone it should still power the screen minimally. I'll probably swap it anyway, just to test.

That seems likely to me too. Any idea where to get replacement power supplies? Are there generic replacements out there?

There are generic replacement power supplies out there but most if not all need to be rewired to work with Sooloos equipment. Check with your Meridian dealers to see if the have replacement oem power supplies.

My C15 also died recently, but a new power supply (supplied by MrTechGuy) did not revive it. So I would advise caution - only get a new supply if it can be returned if it doesn't solve the issue.

You're welcome to pop over with your C15 and try it with a working PSU before you commit to spending out on a new unit. If there are problems with the unit itself, it may still be repairable.

I imagine that it is easier to get to Woking from Oxon/Berks than it is to get to Hampstead if you are going on a special journey for this, but if you find yourself coming to/near NW London anyway, I can offer the same test.

That said, Steve is likely to be much more help than I am in doing anything beyond simple fault elimination!

Thanks to Steves (swpnt) help we were able to confirm the external PSU brick was the faulty part, and after some delay I managed to get a new replacement which is now working correctly, so I have a fully functioning system again.
