The lack of the 218 having HDMI is becoming a problem for me as my 5 yr old has discovered Netflix.
So basically is there a way to incorporate HDMI to a 218?
No expert on this but is a 3 in 1 out switcher the answer and are these a degradation in terms of audio/visual at all?
Cheers Danny

I have a 218 and 3200’s which I have had up for sale recently
The 2 main reasons were because basically I’m forced to subscribe to Roon to play streamed music but found a way round this with a Wiim mini.
The other reason is obviously no HDMI access on the 218 and speakers. I don’t really want to spend a small fortune on one of Meridians solutions so is there an effective way to get HDMI to my 218

If you bump up to a Wiim Pro, it has a optical input. Your TV should have an optical output that you can use to send audio from whatever the tv is playing to the Wiim and onto the 218. The TV will need to be to output PCM stereo. Neither the Wiim nor the 218 will know what to do with multichannel audio.

Hi
I’m using a projector which does have an optical output.
The problem is my Sky Stream box which has no digital output.
I guess the solution is optical from projector to 218? which is not ideal as this will need to be around 12ft or more in length

Hi,
If you search on Amazon, there are a number of HDMI audio extractors. These will sit in-line of the HDMI cable and present digital audio on an optical output or 3.5mm analogue jack. They effectively pass through the HDMI video signals and split out the audio.
They say that they work with 4K signals - so should not be a problem, even with the Sky stream box... They're about £20, so not expensive.
May be worth giving one a try.
Cheers,
Steve
